Have you ever played in a band and wished you could pick up your instrument again? Do you have kids currently involved in band and would like the opportunity for them to get extra play time OR would you enjoy playing music with them?

It doesn’t matter how many years you’ve played, how many years ago you played or what level you are at. The opportunity to have fun and enjoy making music with others is a rewarding experience. If you can play an instrument and know how to ready music, then this is the program for you!

We are hosting an Open House on September 13th! Meet the band leaders, meet other members, check out our facilities and ask questions! This is a great opportunity to see if the concert band or jazz band (or both!) are right for you! The open house will take place in the Band Room of Holy Trinity Catholic High School-230 Powder Drive. Just come in the front doors and our Community Hosts will help you find the room!

Our Community Concert Band is a program for musicians 14+ who have performed on woodwind, brass and percussion instruments and would like the opportunity to develop those music skills in a dynamic setting.

Instructed and led by Benjamin Leer

Benjamin Leer was raised in Fort McMurray, and after completing his studies in music and education at the University of Lethbridge, taught in Medicine Hat for a number of years before returning home to take on the band program at Holy Trinity Catholic High School. He also recently completed a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Western Ontario. Currently, he occupies his time when not in the classroom by trying to keep up with his daughter Rebecca, his wife, and their dog Obi. He hopes to continue to share the joy of music with more and more people for many years to come!

Our Community Jazz Band is a program for musicians 16+ who have performed on woodwind, keyboard, brass and percussion instruments and would like the opportunity to develop those music skills in a dynamic setting.

In Community Jazz Band, participants will perform a variety of classic jazz standards in the form of published charts, “Real Book” lead sheets and personal arrangements.

Students will develop both reading and phrasing in a jazz style and have the opportunity to improvise solos.
The instructor encourages a love of the jazz style in the classes and some time and attention is spent listening to, and appreciating jazz music!
Everyone is included (brass, woodwinds and rhythm section instruments)!
