What to Wear to Class - Dance

• • All clothing should be marked with student’s full name.
  • Any lost dance wear must be replaced within 2 dance classes.
  • If hair is short, a headband must be worn to keep hair off the face.
  • For BALLET – hair must be in a proper ballet bun with bangs pulled off the face
  • No distracting hair ties will be allowed in the classroom.
  • Jewellery is not to be worn in class.  It’s best to keep it safe at home
  • Dancers should always pack a water bottle with their name on it, Band-Aids, and hand sanitizer.
  • Each student will need to have a dance bag. This helps keep their shoes and other belongings organized and available.

  CREATIVE MOVEMENT
  Hair:  Must be in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Clothing:  Snug fitting body suit any colour and 3/4 length tights or leggings.
  Shoes:  No shoes required. 
  

• Boys:  Snug fitting  pants (no jeans) and a snug fitting shirt.

  *No Tutu’s
   

  KINDERCOMBO
  Hair:  Must be worn in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Leotard:  Any colour
  Tights:  Beige or black
  Shoes:  Black slip-on jazz shoes AND pink ballet shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.

• Boys:  Snug fitting pants (no jeans) and a snug fitting shirt.
  Boy Shoes:  Black slip-on jazz shoes AND black ballet shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.

  *No Tutu’s

  JR. JAZZ/TAP
  Hair:  Must be worn in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Attire:  Black bodysuit and beige tights
  Shoes:  Black slip-on jazz shoes AND black tap shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.

• Boys:  Snug fitting t-shirt and snug fitting pants (no jeans).
  Boy Shoes:  Black tap shoes AND Black slip-on jazz shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.

• TOP HATS & TAILS – Boys Only Class
  Hair:  Must be out of eyes
  Attire:  Sweat pants or jazz pants with t-shirts or tank tops.  No jeans.
  Shoes:  Black slip-on jazz shoes AND black tap shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.
   

  BALLET

  Boys
  Attire:  Snug fitting t-shirt and black fitted pants (no jeans).
  Shoes:  Black ballet shoes.

   

  Girls
  Hair: Proper ballet bun must be worn for all classes.
  Bodysuit: Any colour leotard.
  Tights: Ballet Pink tights.
  Shoes: Pink ballet slippers. (Pre-Primary – Ballet 3 must have full soled ballet slippers with elastics. Ballet 4 and high can wear Canvas split-sole ballet slippers with elastics).
  Skirt: Pre-Primary – Ballet 2 semi-sheer gathered skirt.
    

  MODERN
  Hair:  Must be worn in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Attire:  Any colour leotard with leggings or beige/black tights.  Snug fitting top with leggings are also acceptable
  Shoes:  None. Footundeez are acceptable.
  Boys:  Snug fitting t-shirt and snug fitting jazz pants.
   

• JAZZ
  Hair:  Must be worn in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Attire:  Any colour leotard and beige/black tights or leggings.  Snug fitting top with leggings are also acceptable
  Shoes – Level 1-2: Black slip-on jazz shoes.
  Shoes – Level 3 and up: Beige slip-on jazz shoes

• Boys:  Snug fitting t-shirt and snug fitting jazz pants.

   

  HIP HOP 
  Hair:  Must be pulled back off of face. Hats and toques permitted.
  Attire:  Sweat pants or jazz pants with t-shirts or tank tops.  No jeans or shorts.
  Shoes:  Only indoor runners with non-marking soles. 

   

  LYRICAL
  Hair:  Must be worn in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Attire:  Any colour leotard and beige tights or leggings. Snug fitting top with leggings are also acceptable
  Shoes – Jr. – Intermediate:  Beige jazz shoes. 
  Shoes – Advanced and Pinnacle: Apolla Performance Shock with traction in Black (can purchase from Northern Dance Apparel)

• Boys:  Snug fitting t-shirt and snug fitting jazz pants.

   

  MUSICAL THEATRE
  Hair:  Must be worn in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Attire: Any colour leotard and beige/black tights. Snug fitting top with leggings are also acceptable
  Shoes – Level 1:  Black jazz shoes
  Shoes – Level 2: Black jazz shoes 
  Shoes – Level 3 and Higher: Character Heels.

  Boys:  Snug fitting t-shirt and snug fitting pants (no jeans). Black Jazz Shoes for all levels

  TAP
  Hair:  Must be worn in a bun or ponytail for all classes.
  Attire:  Any colour leotard and beige/black tights. Snug fitting top with leggings are also acceptable. 
  Shoes:  Black tap shoes.

  Boys:  Snug fitting t-shirt and snug fitting pants (no jeans).

• 
  ACRO
  Hair:  Must be worn in french braids or a low bun for all classes. (No ponytails or high buns/topknots).
  Attire:  Any colour leotard and form fitting shorts (no tights).
  Shoes: None

• Boys:  Snug fitting t-shirt and snug fitting shorts.
