Venue Information

The Suncor Energy Centre for the Performing Arts boasts a Proscenium Black Box Theatre, with seating for 350 theatre style and 236 banquet style.

**With COVID-19 protocols in place, seating capacities have changed. Please contact us to discuss options for your event or performance.**

It features a floor level playing space that is sprung throughout, state of the art theatre audio and lighting equipment, a short travel theatrical fly system and a full stage with PVC cyclorama for projection and special lighting effects.

The “Black Box” moniker refers to the space’s ability to be configured in layouts other than traditional proscenium theatre. We can accommodate:

Banquet Hall Packages

Basic Banquet Package:
$1600.00 for social-profit groups/$2,000.00 for commercial/business groups

Includes the following:

  • Up to 12 hours of theatre use for event (must include pre-event time for set-up/decorating etc.)
  • Up to 8 hours of technical support (must include all pre-event prep and build)
  • All tables, chairs and linens (round tables can accommodate up to 240 guests)
  • All tables for food, bar etc.
  • Green Room for changing, staging and storage during your event
  • Kitchen to prepare and store food. (Warming of food only-no cooking)
  • 2 Special Event Hosts to manage Front of House

Premium Banquet Package:
$2,100.00 for social profit groups /$2,625.00 for commercial/business groups

 Includes the following:

  • Up to 16 hours of theatre use for event (must include pre-event time for set-up/decorating etc.)
  • Up to 12 hours of technical support (must include all pre-event prep and build)
  • Tables, chairs and linens for up to 240 guests (includes

  • Basic, single level staging (for a head table or a band etc.)
  • Green Room for changing, staging and storage during your event
  • Storage space for load-in prior to event

Theatre Production Packages

Theatre Productions:
$3,600.00 for social profit groups/$4,500.00 for commercial/business groups

Includes the following:

  • Includes 2 rehearsals (up to 6 hours)
  • Includes 2 performance nights (up to 6 hours)
  • Includes up to 30 hours of technical support (includes all pre-event prep and build)
  • Green Room for changing, staging and storage during your event
  • Storage space for load-in day prior to event
  • 2 Special Event Hosts to manage Front of House
  • Ticket takers & Ushers
  • Ticket management (All end users will be charged a 3% processing fee)
  • Promotional support for your event via social media
  • Use of atrium/eatery for any intermissions or post production receptions
  • Additional rehearsals (up to 6 hours of theatre time): $630.00
