What to Wear to Class - Dance

• For classes with 2 options, dancers may wear whichever they prefer
• Mark all clothing and other belongings with the student’s name
• Replace lost dance wear as soon as possible (within 2 classes)
• All hair must be kept off the face. Hair that is too short for a bun or ponytail can be secured with a headband.
• For Ballet – Hair that is long enough is in a ballet bun with bangs pinned back
• Remove all jewellery before class (This is a safety concern! Jewellery is best kept at home.)
• Use a dance bag to keep all belongings organized.
• Bring a water bottle (with the student’s name on it), bandaids, and hand sanitizer to every class

CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Hair: Bun or ponytail
Attire:

• Option 1
  • Snug fitting bodysuit (any colour) and 3/4 length tights or leggings
  • No shoes required
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting stretchy pants and a snug fitting shirt
  • No shoes required
     

KINDERCOMBO
Hair: Bun or ponytail

Attire:

• Option 1
  • Bodysuit (any colour) and tights (skin-toned or black)
  • Black slip-on jazz shoes AND pink ballet shoes
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting stretchy pants and a snug fitting shirt
  • Black ballet shoes

Hair: Bun or ponytail

Attire:

• Option 1
  • Bodysuit (any colour) and skin-toned tights
  • Black slip-on jazz shoes AND black tap shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting stretchy pants and a snug fitting shirt
  • Black slip-on jazz shoes AND black tap shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.
     

GROOVY GUYS - Boys Only Class
Hair: Must be out of eyes
Attire:

• Snug fitting stretchy pants and a snug fitting shirt
• Black slip-on jazz shoes AND black tap shoes. Both types of shoes are required each class.
   

BALLET
Hair: Hair that is long enough is in a ballet bun with bangs pinned back. Short hair is secured with a headband and is off the face.

Attire:

• Option 1
  • Bodysuit (any colour) and ballet pink tights. For Pre-Primary - Ballet 2 a semi-sheer gathered skirt.
  • Ballet shoes (ballet pink). Pre-Primary - Ballet 3 must have full soled leather ballet shoes. Ballet 4 and up can wear canvas split-sole ballet shoes.
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting black stretchy pants and snug fitted t-shirt
  • Black ballet shoes

Optional Additions:

Pre-Primary - Ballet 7: Ballet wrap sweater

Ballet 3 - 7: Ballet wrap skirt (any colour), snug fitted dance short (max. Inseam 4 inches), and/or snug fitted (solid colour) tank top, t-shirt or long sleeve shirt.  

CONTEMPORARY

Hair: Bun or ponytail

Attire:

• Option 1
  • Bodysuit (any colour) with leggings, skin-toned tights, or black tights
  • None. Footundeez are acceptable.
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting stretchy pants, or shorts with 4" inseam, and snug fitting t-shirt
  • None. Footundeez are acceptable.

JAZZ
Hair: Bun or ponytail

Attire:

• Option 1
  • Bodysuit (any colour) with leggings, skin-toned tights, or black tights
  • Level 1 and 2: Black slip-on jazz shoes
  • Level 3 and up: Skin tone slip-on jazz shoes
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting stretchy pants, or shorts with 4" inseam, and snug fitting t-shirt
  • Level 1 and 2: Black slip-on jazz shoes
  • Level 3 and up: Skin tone slip-on jazz shoes

HIP HOP
Hair: Pulled back off face, hat and toques permitted

Attire: Sweat pants or athletic pants with t-shirts or tank tops. No jeans.
Shoes: Indoor runners with non-marking soles. 

  
LYRICAL
Hair: Bun or ponytail

  • Bodysuit (any colour) with skin-toned tights
  • Lyrical 1 to 3: Skin-tone jazz shoes.
  • Lyrical 4 and 5: Skin-tone jazz shoes
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting stretchy pants, or shorts with 4" inseam, and snug fitting t-shirt
  • Lyrical 1 to 5: Skin-tone jazz shoes.

MUSICAL THEATRE
Hair: Bun or ponytail

  • Bodysuit (any colour) and skin-tone or black tights
  • Level 1-2: Black jazz shoes
  • Level 3+: Black character shoes
• Option 2
  • Snug fitting stretchy pants, or shorts with 4" inseam and snug fitting t-shirt

TAP
Hair: Bun or ponytail

  • Bodysuit (any colour) and skin-tone or black tights
  • Black tap shoes
• Option 2

ACRO & ACRO TECHNIQUE 
Hair: Must be worn in french braids or a low bun (No ponytails or high buns/topknots). Hair must be able to stay off of the face while in class and while remaining upside down. 
Attire:

  • Form fitting top and form fitting bottoms (any colour)
  • No shoes
• Option 2
  • form fitting unitard or bodysuit (no tights)
  • No shoes

ELEVATE  TECHNIQUE

  • Skin-tone slip-on jazz shoes or Footundeez are acceptable.
